In 2009, Atlanta Celebrates Photography funded my project “Gifted” for that year’s public art project. Interpreting the phrase ‘public art’ to literally mean ‘giving art to the public,” I curated a collection of twelve photographs from Atlanta area photographers and created small fine art prints in signed editions of 100. Each print came with a card that told about the artist and presented a statement about the image from the artist. Teaming up with the photographers, we sought to directly impact Atlantans as we handed out the prints throughout the city over a one-month period, engaging individuals in discussions about art and it’s value. A project blog encouraged art recipients to photograph their gifted print in their home.
